STOP SLAVERY IN THE UK

After writing the book Radhika’s Story I became a fervent anti-slavery campaigner regularly meeting with charities to help make the world aware that slavery did not simply end in 1807 with British liberator William Wilberforce’s Slave Trade Act.

It continues in even more pernicious forms — run by cyber-savvy criminals who trade across the ether in human flesh in milliseconds, making millions.

I joined forces with anti-trafficking foundation Walk Free to launch The Sun’s Stop Slavery in the UK campaign in 2014.

Soon after publication it was praised by Home Secretary Teresa May, who outlined a Modern Slavery Bill and promised to strengthen legislation and introduce life sentences for “slave drivers”.
